MEC needs a membership. But I did not know they sold foam in cochrane. That is good! Then maybe some department stores in calgary might start to carry some!

If you can't squeeze them down significantly (they are really stiff) they probably are a air filled rubber ball with a foam layer on top. Tricky, tricky.

You also want to grab: -super 90 spray glue, (or 77 if you can't find 90) Canadian tire has this. -a roll of athletic tape, (hockey tape) you'll want a LOT of this, buy at least 2 of their biggest packages. Canadian tire has this. -open cell foam, if you go into memory express if you ask nicely they will give you this for free. It's a computer store and they get lots of extra foam packaging around the parts they sell. -3/4' PVC pipes, (10' long each, you'll need a few) Totem, Rona, Home Depo, and possibly Canadain Tire all have these. -multicolored tape to mark weapon classes, dollar stores have this. -utility knife, (the kind with blades that snap into 10 pieces or so) and extra blades. Cutting cloth tape and foam dull blades quickly. These are available in the same kind of stores as the PVC. You might want to buy 3 of these if you are going to be building weapons together so you don't have to wait for the other guy to finish. -large metal carpentry L-square, this will help you mark off your foam into the right sized pieces. (again same place as the PVC) -5 pack of permanent markers, (dollar store) -pcv cutter or hacksaw. The PCV cutter is a special took that makes it easy to cut your cores to the right size, but a hacksaw will do if you already have one. -lots of cloth for covers. Fabricland has a discount wall, that works well for this. Or if you are on a budget old pants or sheets can be used.

one of the real problems is availability. i know i'm rlly busy and im sure some other guys are too due to either summer jobs but if we could all pitch in for materials and certain guys can either say what they're goin to make or we could assign wepons. any thoughts for this suggestion?

if you can spend 5 hours together you should be able to make 1 weapon each having never done it before.
Once you get the hang of it you can make them faster.
There are a lot of materials I listed, but most of them are very cheap and they will last you a long time.

I will be bringing some camp pad down this weekend (from bass pro about $13 each) if you want to buy a roll let Gil-Galad know.

if you let me borrow those weapons i can take them to Cib to check them if they are legal or not. my armoury consists of a red weapon (not sure what to call it) a blue battle hammer and a blue scimitar. they all need a little work to fix small problems (flex, covers, and a new pommel) but other wise they check in as legal so far. as long as dusks weapons are legal we have 5 out of six blues, 1 out of 5 shields, 1 out of 3 reds, and no range weapons or garb. getting close now. and yes Cib i would like to buy a mat but i need to cash a check first. most likely i will ask you for 2 mats for next weekend if you don't mind. leo has a good point and i think we should assign the remainder of the weapons to builders. any volunteers? i can take building another red and the last blue sword and a shield at least. (remember to make covers for them dusk)

Your IGA has good foam for $15/$16ish in the camping isle. It probably will leave once the camping season is out, but I expect it will be there in to the fall.
Your Walmart has Poof foot balls by the front door, for $4 or $5 (good for stabbing tops or spear heads).
