Airdrie is having a weapons building day on June 8th in place of the regular Airdrie monday practice. Regular practice runs 6:15-8:15 but we may run to 9:00 on the 8th. More details (like price for materials) will come soon!

I can bring a PCV cutter, large metal L-Square ruler, cutting boards and one utility knife.
I can also bring a permanent marker for measuring, but it's starting to die and a small roll of duct tape not sure if it will be enough, so if someone else has some that could help.
I can bring stabbing tip foam, it really doesn't take much to add a stabbing tip but I'm not sure we will be.
EDIT:
Stuff Mog is bringing: -PCV cutter -large metal L-square ruler -cutting boards -1 utility knife -1 serrated blade -stabbing tip foam, (we may or may not use this) -permanent marker, (dieing) -duct tape, (not much) -500 pennies to cap ends -almost empty spray glue can
Stuff Cib is bringing: -camp pads to cut up -1/2" pcv -contact cement
Stuff we can still use: -athletic tape, (I can bring some but probably not enough) -another permanent marker -more duct tape -another utility knife might help -covers

I will buy a can of contact cement, if I have any leftover 3M 77 siting around I will bring it also, but I am not sure if I do.

Will you guys have materials for making a spear? I also need to know what the price of the event is because a lot of the calgary guys are coming and want to know the price and time because we all have school the next day and we need to car pool.
Thank you very much, Dawnbringer

Sorry Dawnbringer! I away away all weekend until now! It will be $5 for a short sword (20"?). ( I don't have the stuff for a spear. Mostly lacking a foam football I am willing to part with. I will try an bring stuff for a spear, no promises though. (if you can find a foam football, it would make a better spear)
The idea is not to get you the best weapon ever, but give you the ability to make whatever weapon you want latter (and repair your gear), and a weapon to use until you do , (and then your friend can use it after you make your amazing one)

I am coming. I recently got some fiberglass from UFA and will be building one sword from it tonight. I will spend allot of my day cutting out the foam so that all I have to do is glue.

I found a pvc cutter I can bring. It makes more even cuts than a hacksaw and doesn't require stopping a tube from rolling so it should help.

If we have time after building a sword each I'd like to make a javelin each, (short spear + it's throwable!)

Thoughts for next time:
We should have stations setup and one experience weapon builder at each station. For example I'd man the pcv cutting station while Cib mans the end capping station. The new people are divided between the stations and the experienced person is only dealing with 2 or 3 people at a time.
The new people will flow from one station to the next and some of them will start later than others. Once a new person has started though they are always getting instruction not standing around waiting for the experience person to hand them something.
The biggest delay we had was people not knowing what to do. We generally only had 1 experienced person trying to teach 8 new people, (approximately, how many did we have?) There is only so far you can divide your attention. Most of the time 3-4 people were working and the rest of the group was standing around doing nothing.
Even when everyone is on the gluing stage we should be dividing the group between the experienced people. Each experienced weaponsmith takes their group of newbies and tells them how to do the task, even if we have the same lesson going on 3 times if you only have to concentrate on your 3 people you can make sure they are all working.
