I talked to Russel last night and he is interested in going Saturday but he has to get back to Calgary for Sunday. I presume the others feel the same way, but I'll phone them tonight.
When do you hold your practice on Sundays? How late is this going to go on Saturday? It might be better if we just go up for the day and skip Sunday.

I’m not going to speak for Niall, but I promise to kick him until he responds.
This particular event is at Rotary Park on Saturday the 25th and probably will start around 3 pm. No idea on how long it will last.
Our regular Sunday practices are held in a field close to our house, I don’t have much in the way of directions to the field. Normally our Sunday practices start around 6:00 pm ish. Although if people are coming from out of town I’m sure there would be some flexibility, like starting “Whenever the hell we feel like it” and going until “We fall down or have to bugger off to do something else”.

Alright, I'm going to take this one question at a time and hopefully get all of them.
First question: Where are we meeting? Bower Place Shopping Center (it's a * mall, but that's what they call it). It's impossible to miss, as long as you actually enter Red Deer. Take your first exit (keep to the right as you approach the city), and you'll find yourself on Gaetz Avenue. Travel North along that street until you see a large electronic sign on the side of the road. Pull in there.
The sign should say "Bower Place etc. etc." If it does not, and says something like "Centrium", and talks about upcoming concerts, you've turned far too soon. Fools.
Once you get into the mall's parking lot, your fastest way in is either beside Toys R' Us, or The Bay. That's the western wing of the mall. Come to HMV, ask for Adam. If you get there after I'm off work, I'll be the one sitting on the bench outside my store talking excitedly about foam rocks of varying sizes.
DIRECTIONS! To quote Yahoo maps: # Take ramp onto HWY-2 N toward DEERFOOT TR - go 138.5 km. # Take exit #394/GAETZ AVE/RED DEER/CITY CENTRE onto 50 AVE(HWY-2A N) - go 2.1 km
Now, that's just from Calgary Center, so you'll have to find your own way from your homes. Locating Bower Mall from there should be simple.
Second question!: When? I get off work at 1 PM. I have arranged for those of us who have vehicles to meet me at work as of 12:30, hoping that they'll arrive sometime around 1. I'll wait until at least 1:30 for everyone to show up. If for any reason you doubt your abilities to arrive at that time, let me know now. My cell is currently dead, but I'm sure I can find some way to keep in touch with you guys and figure out an ETA.
Third question!: Sunday If you guys can't stay for the party, plan on being back for Sunday, or whatever, don't sweat it. The party was kind of a fall-back for this whole event. If say, these guys are full of hot air and the whole event falls apart, the party would be something that would make the trip worthwhile. I would just use a Sunday event as a recruitment opportunity while we were there to lure those who are serious about participating, or just thinking about doing it off and on.
Having you guys around just means more people would be available, although I think we'll have a decent turnout ourselves this week. We'll see when the time comes, I suppose.
Fourth Question! When, Sunday?
James (Aaronwhatsit) has the gist of it. I plan on gathering up the party stragglers who boff, getting them motivated and heading out at the crack of whenever. Although he does have the order a little off.

Sorry, something has come up and I won't be coming. I will just have to meet you guys at a later time. Have fun!

6pm is way too late to be starting a practice on Sunday when I have to drive back after.
If the event falls through, all the Red Deer people will be assembled anyway right? We can still do Belegarth on Saturday even if the L.A.I.R.E. thing blows up on itself.
Sounds like Sunday is probably out, most of us can't do it anyway.

Seems we're on the same page. I planned on starting Sunday a little sooner than 6 (more like noon, really), but Saturday should fill my quota of mayhem for a little while at least.
As far as other people showing up, I've been keeping my ear to the rumor mill in town and have heard of at least one group of 7 or so people should be showing up that afternoon.
What sort of armament are you guys planning on bringing?

Well I've got my red sword, 2 long blues, a short blue and 2 daggers. I've also got tabards for 5 or so people and my armour.
I haven't heard back from Tomas, and Russel was kind of iffy so I might be coming alone.

It's cool. I think I have four or five people sure to go. I've got my double-ended blue, a medium blue, and I'm currently making cube-like rocks. Thinking of stylizing them into companion cubes.
I've been getting decent practice off-handing with a single blue, so I might get a chance to toss a rock at short range. It'll be amusing, at least.

How did it go? Who went?
Rocks make good loaner weapons (as cheep quick second weapon).

They are also good for hitting people in the face. Or ricocheting into your gimped allies. Regardless, though, my Weighted Companion Rock effectively killed us a few times.
It went well, despite the entire Facebook group failing at show up to their own event. We had a good time of it yesterday, but nobody was really ready to go early today. All in all, I'd say for fun alone, it was a definite success.
Also, I need more practice before I can confidently take on Mog. Nice of him to go easy on me.

It was fun. I'm a little disappointed that NONE of the facebook people showed. but we had a good Belegarth practice and it was fun slaughtering meeting you guys.
Note: quarterstaff = good weapon, and fun too, we need more of them.

As the for the companion cube rock it worked WAY better than the rocks we tried in Airdrie. The difference is the type of foam and the fit of the cover. The companion cube hurts a little when you take it to the face, but it actually goes where you throw it, and you can throw it around 20 feet with accuracy.
The ones we tried in Airdire were pillows, they flop around like crazy and fly about 1 foot before changing directions from a wind current or from deforming mid-air and are almost useless.
The companion cube rock was entirely pool noodle right?

lol we had better rocks before you came, they were some of the kids favorite weapons (one kid would only use rox and nothing else). Draggos' rox are a bit light.
You found the quarterstaff effective? Interesting, they are regarded as pretty-much useless nationally because of the rules on how they have to be made. Where there any shields? I would love to see one in action.

We didn't have any shields, and the quarterstaff is a defensive weapon. I think the problem on the national forums is no one gives it a chance. They try it for 1 practice then give up and go back to a weapon they have been using for years.
The quarterstaff is a VERY different style of combat and it takes some time to get used to. But for people who aren't too set into a weapon style yet I think it would be good to try it.
The biggest thing I noticed when using it, is when you block you can attack while still blocking. With any other weapon you have to give up the block to do an attack.
