I have an idea for an event. It is a dream and although I hope that it will come true it might be awhile before that happens. This event would definitely differentiate from us other realms because as far as I now nobody has ever tried it before. Even if it has been attempted I would still like to try it.
We would start with a maze, the bigger the better, where groups of warriors would be sent into it with a quest to hunt for a precious object of some kind. The only thing is: is they would have to defeat and/or avoid all of the "guards",fight other groups of warriors who are all looking for the same thing, find the treasure, and find their way back again with the treasure, all within a somewhat confined space. The group of warriors that makes it out of the maze with the treasure would be the winner.Of course we would have to try it first in order to see what will work and what won't. Maybe it won't work at all. If it did work and it was the only one of its kind I can tell you one thing we would probably have people coming from all over the place to attend our event. At any rate it is my dream and I sure hope we can try it someday.
So what do you think of it? Do you think it will work? If not, do you think it could be made to work by modifying it a bit?

That is a very good idea, i accually made a game for a P.E. assignment quite simmulair but it was two teams competing in a maze for objects. theres gotta be a way to make it possible, would be really fun

I have heard of this kind of thing, but getting a maze is the trick. Every time I have herd of it, they use ropes on the round to make the maze. Well, they usually call it a city scenario or something. But it isn't quite the same. However, I went to my first corn maze this summer, and oh man... All I could think of was how epic it would be.
A lot of ply wood is what you need, and a budget.

Sweet, glad you liked it. As for the budget I can manege that.

one possibility would be to rend a gym, and use the gymnatics mats and set those up sideways all around the gym floor

Yes, that could definitely work.
Another thing that could work for a small maze is to make it out of PVC pipe and cover it with cloth. Then, when you would be done with it you could pack it away somewhere and it would not take as much space as plywood.

That is a good idea, and if it was thick enough PVC it would be string enough I think. Would need a lot of cloth, and a lot of sand bags. Probably would be best for in doors, or you might just end up with a giant sail.

One other great thing about PVC is that you could expand your maze whenever you want to and whenever you have got the money.
I now we would need allot of cloth, thats why I would buy it from Fabric Land's bargain area. Sometimes you can find quite allot of good stuff in there.

Our church recently acquired these cool dividers that accordion fold together, and wheels for easy transport (the wheels also can be locked though) and are over 6' tall and when stretched out are about 10-15' long, and they can be attached together to create "stings". Very cool deals. I bet they are expensive, but I wonder how hard they would be to make.

Man, that would be a sweet material to build it out of though.

If I remember, next sunday I will try and see what exactly they are made out of, cuz, we might be able to make our own. And if not then, then the sunday after that, and if not then... we got lots of time right?

Another thing I would like to do for an event, we might be able to do this sooner than my other idea, is a simple capture the flag game. The only thing is, is I would like to build two towers that would be placed near each teams flags were archers and javelin throwers could reek havoc from there tops.

Has anyone been to the "park" up the highway? Y know the one with the dumping station and yellow roof? maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=airdrie&sll=47.457809,-101.25&sspn=0.217275,0.485458&ie=UTF8&t=h&layer=x&ll=51.374553,-114.003839&spn=0.006269,0.015171&z=16 It looks like it has a big field further back. I wonder if it would be a posable outdoor event location.
