After the last little wile's drop of in attendance I think it might be beneficial to review the year and see what we have learned. List any "lessons" that come to mind. 1. Though Calgary is massive in population, it does not make it automatically easy to start a realm. Population may not be as important as we thought2. More than one man is needed, no matter the commitment and persistence. An initial "core" committed group of 2 or 3 is necessary to gain traction. 3. Mog is awesome, everyone else is lazy

Lol from what've heard is that Calgary just isnt into it. Plus you have to think for a moment when people think of calgary they think Stampede and other cowboyish steriotypes, not so much a medival knight. But I know Airdrie even being as spread out as it is its still small and so traveling becomes easy. I think also sports becomes a big thing because in Airdrie we have a diff sport everyday so unless your in them all theres gotta be an a valible time or day.

Word of mouth had helped Airdrie, and the core crew to start it. Of the 150 hits to Belegarth.ca in the last 11 days, 90+ have been from Airdrie, and only 20 have been from Calgary. There is interest in Calgary, Mod has people stop by most every practice, but the lack of a core group dampens their enthusiasm to stick around.

Yea cause Airdrie well we get bout 5 core and then random people will try playing so I guess that its good to have a few who know how to play.

I haven't been at any of practices because I've been crazy busy on weekends with all sorts of other commitements. Plus high school and homework. So although I do practice with my friends in my spare time I have a lot of other stuff happening. Sorry about that, but I'll probably be free this spring or in summer.

At this point you can't say Calgary just isn't into Belegarth. There is still another million people to reach. The Calgary group is still very new in every Belegarth sense so I wouldn't be too down on yourself yet. The Airdrie group is coming up on it's third year now? Developing a core group seems to be very important to a realm. Finding that group backyard or public is a good way to go. How about a brief history of how the Airdrie group got started Cib?

Not much to say, all our ducks just fell in a row.
I had been wanting to start a realm for about 6 months but didn't know who I could count on. My friends I initially expected to be diving head long in to it were only half interested. Eventually I just said ok, lets just do it fora month or so and see what happens.
Zike and myself were committed, and about that same time Draggos started doing mechanics in airdrie and staying at out house on friday afternoons we we forced him to commit for the term. We advertised to our local home-school group and got Darr and Zach. None of my other friends I expected to commit did, and have only ever been a handful of times. So that was our core 5 the first year.
The nice thing that first year was that we could count on the three of us going, we all were at the same house and drove to practice in the same van. So we knew that there would always be at least the 3 of us.
