It's working pretty well, we seem to have our core group, although we only have 2 weapons besides mine. Could use a few more people to get into most of the games but we've got enough currently that we can say, "drop by we will be here"

sorry I didn't respond.... I haven't checked this site in forever with school and all... The south practice location is on the other end of the planet from me, and I couldn't bum a ride off my parents to get there every week. I have 3-4 people that are at least willing to try it out, and anywhere in the north-west works best for me, but princess island park is fine. I can't do thursdays for sure after the summer ends, but am open other than that. I'll strart looking at NW maps and see what's practical.

Oh, you live in the NW eh? That is a good spot for me to have a practice - besides Airdrie. Seeing that I just got a vehicle, I could pickup a few people and take them to a practice. Once you have thought of a location Zamisk, let me know the location and I will decide whether or not it will work for me. If it does, then perhaps you could hitch a ride with me.
As an after thought, how does Nose Hill sound for a practice spot?

Nose hill has a lot of gopher holes and tall grass. Plus it's large enough that people will go to the wrong part of it and miss the practice.

My thoughts exactly on nose hill. There is, however, a ravine in arbour lake RIGHT next door to me, and a field nearby a firehouse in edgemont... There's a feild in tuscany, but that's a bit far from me... What works for you darr?

Say, what about those series of soccer and baseball fields close to the Costco on Stoney Trail? The ground would be perfect for fighting as well as easily assessable to anyone in the NW via Stoney Trail. Admittedly, we would have to plan our practices around soccer games, but I don't think that is such a big deal.

I don't know where you are talking about, sorry. But if we're taking stoney trail, we could just go to airdre. Looking at maps, it seems Hawkwood is kind of in the middle of the NW and would make sense to me for a location... Plus I can bike there from my place in about 30 miutes probably. Google maps shows a couple of fields there. Any thoughts?

You know what, I will come to you. The best and closest place that works for you, that is where I will go. My reason for saying this is because I actually live on a farm. It is NW of Airdrie and it takes about 20 minutes for me to get to Airdrie and about 40 minutes for me to get in the midst of the NW of Calgary. For me, 40 minutes isn't that bad. So, like I said, I'll come to you.

I'll also go to wherever we can get a practice going in the north. We currently have practices on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays between the 3 realms. Wednesday 7-9pm would be good to space it out if that works for you guys.
Where do you think we could convince the most people to make it to? Me and Darr can drive so don't worry about us for location, think of where your friends who are willing to try it live, (and Draggos if anyone knows where he's coming from)

Hawkwood borders arbour lake, hamptons, ranchlands, citadel, edgemont, and is close-ish to dalhousie. There are a few parks big enough, but my problem is shelter from rain and some place to eat and warm up (like tim hortons)... Although Calgary practices will probably die in winter again so warming up won't be an issue. We can always move locations later...

While shelter and nearby hang-out stores are nice neither one is really necessary. The Cochrane and south Calgary practices have neither and the Airdire practice is a decent drive away to Starbucks and we don't use the shelter much.
The main point is finding a location and time people are willing to commit to going to.

Yeah, that's the thing. Commitment. I am going away some this summer, and that would make my friends less eager to come, at least untill they know you guys better. Gah, this is harder than I thought. You'd think people would be signing up left and right to beat people up.

Ok, Here's what I'm thinking. Wednesday doesn't work for me as soon as school's back in. Thursday is a strech. And I think 7-9 is going to bite us in the butt as soon as summer is over. how about like, 4:00-5:30 on Tuesdays, in Hawkwood? That way school has been out for a whie, people at my school have time to go home, eat ect. Then come. I now have 5-6 confirmed people interested. If we can make it work for most of them, it would be best. I can arm myself and 2 others, which leaves 4 people unarmed. Mog or Darrr, how many can you arm? This will be great!

I can't make it to hawkwood until around 6pm at the earliest since I work 8:45-5:30.
Feel free to have practices without me if you can get enough attendance though, I can add it to the advertising we have.
If I do make it there I have 10 weapons: 3 daggers, 6 swords, and a claymore. The claymore is currently out for long-term repairs and the swords keep needing patches so I'm often out 1 or 2 of those each week too.
