Aron of the purple cloth? Does Zocana mean anything, or is it just a cool name?

im DJ from drumheller which is a new realm that is just now starting to pick up. still working on getting enough weapons for a practice. anyway my favourite combo would probably be a pole-arm/spear although i'm not to shabby with a short sword and shield. i'd like to experiment with a spear/pole-arm and a short blue. would that be practical or would it just get tiring and not work. btw purple garb is awesome. ;D ;D ;D i should get me one

When using a spear or pole-arm I always try to get a dagger too. You don't want a normal sword, the point to it is hold it in your back hand and if you can't maintain long range, pull in extremely short range and use the dagger. If you have shorter and longer range than your enemy it's really hard for them to get a shot in.

Totally, most weapon combos work best in a middle range, spear works best at long, and dagger are REALY close. If you can use one on your off hand, do it.
My spearing technique doesn't allow me to unfortunately. So I get killed at medium and close ranges.

Hi Kayla, thanks for dropping in! I am pretty sure you guys are much bigger than us, we don't have many non-coms unfortunately. Though, ironically, the one non-com we have is also named Kala!

Devon here and Calgary is home for me. Been an interesting few hours finding out about Belegarth. Started with following links from a random surplus store selling "claw weapons" to a forum thread somewhere asking about claw weapons vs. normal weapons. Someone had a link discussing real combat situations such as the ones found in Belegarth, looked up Belegarth and thought "awesome"..
then just for kicks decided to see how far away it is and low and behold right in my * back yard! Some web searching and you-tubing later and holy crap sign me up!
I'm an EMT/Firefighter working waaay up North past Ft. McMurray but heading to med school in September so home full-time in July or so. Anyways, I'll be lurking around for a while, tinkering with weapon designs on my days off, and likely sorting something out in the spear/shield department with a short sword backup. (Not JUST cause of 300, but overall a very effective weapon system balancing reach, thrown, defense, and close quarters).
Although it's hard to top the satisfaction of simply swinging a big ole axe into something...

That's sounds similar to the way I discovered Belegarth. Welcome to the forums. I can't wait until it's warm enough to fight again.

Hi! My fighting name is Kyrian Hawksword and my mundane name is Ian. I've been fighting for over 20 years now, mostly in Dagorhir/Belegarth but I've also done Amtgard and the SCA, both heavy and rapier. I've been in several Bel realms, starting out in Numenor (Champaign-Urbana, Illinois), to Wolfpack (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), and then Rhun (Madison, Wisconsin). At the beginning of this year, my wife, Sorcia, and I moved to southern California.
My preferred weapon style currently is archery but I also do florentine and sword & board.
Respectfully,
Kyrian
