I've bought a packet of eyelets, (300 pieces ) can anyone tell me how to use them? I want to add 2 more rows of eyelets to my tunic neck, do I need a special tool to set the eyelets? do a ball-peen hammer or needle nose pliers work?

Yeah, There's a special tool that is used for eyelets. It is really easy to get one if you buy an eyelet kit. It comes with a few eyelets and the tool used to make them and can be found at Fabric Land. There will be instructions on the back of the box on how to use it.

Do you have one of these tools? Would you be able to bring it to the event? I don't want to spend $30 for 4 eyelets

Why! "Eyelets are easy" just happens to be my most popular tutorial I have written to date! No joke! See it here: stuffmaker.blogspot.com/2008/06/eyelets-are-easy.htmlIf I can find my hammers and anvils by Saturday I will try and bring it, but we are moving this weekend so I can't guarantee it.

What size are your eyelets? If they are 1/4" then you are in luck. We've got the tool for that.

They are 7/16" eyelets... I might be taking them back and trying to get a setter and a few grommets from Fabricland. I bought these eyelets at Canadian Tire.
Apparently I need grommets not eyelets though... according to Tandy anyway they are different. Tandy has eyelets but they aren't male/female they are all the same so you don't get a backing on them.

yeah eyelets are for cloth. If you plan of using them for leather them I would imagine that grommets would be better.

yes, they are metal reinforcement for cloth so when you lace it up it won't tear the cloth.
