Shiakazie! New tabard design for Red Deer realm. Giant picture! It appears to be unused by another realm or unit, if perhaps an unintentional conglomeration of several designs. What's everyone think?

It is not exactly like the other real/unit's is it? I look smilier to something I have seen. Even choosing the same name as someone else is a social no-no in the more global Belegarth culture. Right now we are so isolated we don't really care, but we might latter when we start attending US events, and US reals start attending ours.
But as long as it is not an exact clone and one can easily tell the difference side by side it should be fine.

Oh, you said "unused" I read "used", and was really confused. Sweet. Looks pretty good. Doesn't look like it would be to hard to paint on to fabric if you wanted ether.

Good design, looks like it was inspired by the Eye of Sauron. Simple, elegant, I like it.
To really make it your own, try and come up with an explanation for every part of the design--the central eye, the cross, the arrow heads, the four corner points, the colours etc.--right down to the last details. Be creative.

Funny enough it was inspired by a war hammer Symbol for Chaos Undivided, but to add further meaning to it There is gona be quite a bit of explaining that Niall Will do. It has mostly to do with a particular name choice.

Over in the other thread in this section, I tossed up a couple name ideas. The majority of us are leaning towards "Norregar" for Red Deer, but I intend to put it to a larger audience before we make a final call. I promise, this is actually relevant.
A little history that I've been finagling is part of the explanation, so.. excuse the length of this post? Please feel free to clarify any mistakes I have made. I skimmed before basing this loosely on things others have written on the Strathclyde main site and would appreciate their input.
Cue italic story stuff!
'The north is lost. Dust on the wind.' So are the whispers of folk across the land. Yet to the south, the banner of Arderyth has risen. Further north, a cold blast of wind has raised another.
The Northern Guard of the old empire returns from the field, heavily diminished and composed of elements both of the old guard and trained barbarians from the wastes.
I caught allusions to a former northern kingdom in the short backstory provided on the Strathclyde website, and decided to roll with it. The Northern Guard would've been a detachment sent out to patrol borders and, after the original nation fell, continued to do its duty to a lesser extent. Patrol would've turned into invasion and exploration, for survival as much as anything.
Length of time between fall of old and rise of Strathclyde is mostly irrelevant, it just makes the continuation of tradition increasingly far fetched as more time passes.
Back to my original point of explaining the design.. the eye is that of the guard, watching the northern expanses. The arrows and subsequent barbs around the eye are a distorted compass rose (probably why they got lost up there in the first place, really). The red on black is blood spilled in the unknown.
/End over-thought explanation.

Hey there, please don't kill me for posting (as I'm not a canadian) but~~ You might catch a wee bit of Flak from HellHammer (as they use the Chaos Star) and Dark Guard (as they use the eye) but it looks unique enough that if you -do- catch said flak they're being jerks. Looks good, welcome to Belegarth

Yeah it looks pretty sweet. I like the design and the reasoning that goes behind it. It doesn't look anything like the HellHammer design so I think that your pretty good as far as originality goes.

Good Background!
Reminds me of the breach of the Hadrian's Wall in 367 which resulted in an invasion of Celt and Pict forces that pushed back the Romans for several years. Given our theme this works quite well. Very mysterious which is good.

Rusc. It's decided. I'm calling you Wiki from now on, out of respect. Between this and the Mandalorian Circle, you've proved yourself a living breathing encyclopedia.
Thanks everyone for the support! I'll be sure to post pictures soon.
