This is perhaps better classified as an advanced training exercise, but proceeds fairly simply.
1) Two people are chosen at random from those wishing to participate. These are your first combatants.
2) The rest of the participants gather in a loose circle, making sure that there is some room for maneuverability.
If you stray too close to the edge of the circle, one of the audience may strike you from behind and take your place in combat. If this doesn't happen, the winner of the duel can choose their next opponent from the surrounding ring.
The idea of the exercise is to encourage spacial awareness, as well as hone one-on-one combat skill.

Back when I first joined I remember someone talking about a similar game they played in their realm. I think they used the center circle on a soccer field. Back then we didn't have enough people to try it, now that we do, I had kinda forgotten about it. I think they called it... drum role please.... "the circle of death!"
Mandalorian circle sounds much better. Out of curiosity though, why Mandalorian? Is it someone's name, or does it mean something?

Mandalorian is the name of a human culture from Star Wars. Boba Fett and Jango Fett are both Mandalorians. In the Star Wars universe the Mandalorians are a very warlike people who emphasize the importance of honour, personal combat, and overcoming worthy opponents. Heavy Armour and Powerful weapons were trademarks of theirs and highly sought after. They were regarded as some of the greatest warriors in the galaxy and played significant roles in many wars, including the "Mandalorian Wars" in which they nearly destroyed the Galactic Republic some 4000 years before the rise of the Empire. By the time of the Clone Wars, the Mandalorians had nearly passed into legend, with a few like Jango seeking other ways of life such as Bounty Hunters.
The Mandalorian homeworld was called Mandalore, located on the very edge of the galaxy, and this name was also bestowed upon their leader. In the computer games Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, the Mandalorians are important characters both as friends and foes. In Sith Lords you can event join their "duel ring" and become the champion.
So, Mandalorian is a fitting name for this game; as it emphasizes personal valour, awaness and skill; even though the name is Sci-Fi rather than Fantasy. But the again I always considered Star Wars the be more "Space Fantasy" than Science Fiction.

Kotor is one of the best games EVER, and that pretty much sums up what a mandalorian is. they are people who fight with honor, and die for honor, and almost took over the galaxy

The Belegarth wiki calls this game a "bear pit" I think. We have done a dueling ring which is very similar, but haven't gotten enough people together to really make this work yet... we should soon though

The odd time we've gotten about ten people and that is enough to do it. We just haven't thought of it.
