A few times when using javelins I've found that the victim doesn't take the hit, usually because they don't even know they were hit. Javelins have a lot of padding and if you are hit in the back or the leg you don't always notice them. I asked this on the national boards and I like the system they use: board.belegarth.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=32604Basically this means whenever your Jav hits something call "point" or "shaft". This is not a call on if the person should take the hit, just a way of informing them that there WAS an impact on something, (might have been a shield or garb) or informing them that it was a shaft of a jav not a swung sword so they should ignore it.

Remember with all missile weapons there is no "sufficient force" required. There is however a minimum deflection angle of 30 degrees.
So if it skims past you clipping your arm it might not count as a hit. On the other hand, if it hits you square in the back so lightly you don't know you were hit it's still a valid shot and you are dead.

One should also call a shot from behind or it should be assumed as a blue. (and if someone calls blue from behind you, take it it usually means they could have hit you harder than they did)
I had heard of the point thing before but didn't really know how it worked. Good to know.
