So I was ready some stuff on the national forum and I noticed that box layer + two blade layers was the standard setup. Then I noticed my sword had 3 blade layers. I'm just wondering if we pad our weapons more than the norm or if it was a mistake or something. It's a 3/4" pvc core and flexes some so it's not rock solid. My newest sword is on the same core so I'll try it with two blade layers but it might not be a fair test since it will be counter weighted.

All my blue swords are box + 2 layers (totaling 2 layers on the striking edge). Your swords are weird, they are crazy light and defiantly don't look like 4 layers of foam on each side... Maybe you are using a different kind of foam, I duno.

I remember your sword hitting too hard when you brought your first one, so you added another layer to it. It might be the cover, yours are pretty tight, (is it compressing the foam?) or it might be the type of foam you are using.

My covers are really loose now and I use blue foam from Home Hardware. I forgot yesterday but I'll show you the inside to compare with your foam.

Update: I just finished the blade of my new sword and it feels way softer than my other one. There must be some difference in the foam. But it's the same brand of foam, maybe there's some sort of density rating on the package? I'll try and figure it out.
