Today I got some PVC finally, and wanted to try curved swords. I used an iron to heat it up as little as possible to bend it slightly. The core looks roughly like this: | \ | And now I'm making the blades. I'll see if I can get pics of the finished product. I'm pretty tappy, so I am not worried about them breaking, it is hardly bent. Plus it's not like they're 7 foot spears, they're 2 foot daggers.

There are posts on the international forums about making curved blades. Most of them fill the PCV with hot, (maybe boiling not sure) water and use pegs to hold the bent shape while it cools.
Having curved blades is quite posible and while it does weaken them, shouldn't be a major issue. I'd be worried that you might have used too high a heat to make the bend quickly though.
The real problem with bending PCV is trying to get anything near a 90 degree, (for scythes and the like) those are too extreme an angle and almost always break in a practice or 2.

I used the iron on about medium I would guess, after I let it warm up, it took about a minute of me spinning the pvc and holding it on top for it to be bendable. Per curve. So it wasn't super fast...

would it be possible to make a slightly curved(only curved one way like a scythe but not bent 90 degrees) red weapon with this concept? or would it break too easily?

I'm no expert, but the only thing that keeps a red sword from breaking is flex, right? Then if you lessen the flex, it will probably snap. It still flexes front to back, but the first time you flat it, it would die. I'm assuming. I wouldn't curve anything over 3'.
Let me guess... Itchigo's sword from Bleach?

Curving a red sword would work just fine. It's the angle of curve that matters, not the sword size. A slight curve would work, anything anywhere near close to a scythe will break almost instantly.
If you want Itchigo's sword I'd build if with more foam at one end than the other, not a curved blade. If you are thinking of Kira's zanpakuto, (sword) it will break the first practice you use it on.

Yes, but curving, no matter how little of a curve, doesn't allow the blade to flex in all directions, just with the curve, not side to side. I'm not saying normal strikes will break it, flats will. And with a 4'+ sword, you're going to flat someone.

Why would a curve effect the flat side flex?

Would it not? It seems to... Not all together gets rid of the flex, just restricts it as far as I can tell...

I just don't see why it would... I have never heard of a curved blade braking from a flat, only from a proper strike as only a blade edge strike will add extra pressure to the curve.

But I have never bent anything, so that is why I am asking.
