Tournaments of Strathclyde Event
Summery: -An events are based around 2 man unit games and tournaments.
Description: -The event would consist of a series of 2 man unit tournaments and games.
-Awards might be given for specific events, and total collected points from all events for a unit and and total collected points from all events for a Realm.
-Players ether enter the event as a pre formed 2 man team/unit, or enter as a "wiled card" to be paired up in to 2 man units with other wiled card players at the event. -Teams will be expected to have appropriate unit names (eg. Red Warlords, Western Ravens, etc.) and appropriate coordinated matching garb (eg. all black, or red sashes and wight tabards, or yellow belt fags, etc.). -Units/Teams are permanently fixed for the duration of the event. All larger games and tournaments would always to continue to separate and score according to unit or individual players.
Purpose: -To assist Strathclyde realms in recruitment and "hooking" recruits*. -To facilitate positive community connection of realms and players. -To encourage the improvement and value of team work skills throughout out the Strathclyde realms. -To showcase Belegarth in more sport like environment.
*This event can be used as an opportunity to recruit friends in to being on a team with you, or have vets train newer members by teaming up with them.
Ok now I need some constructive criticism and honest feedback. We cant make it built proof if you don't shoot to kill.

I am thinking a Christmas event is most practical at this point.

Sounds good.
How about points for duo with best garb? For specific games how about a last pair standing game(team free for all)? Are you going to get more specific with the game types and scoring system? If the goal is team work then be sure to come up with some great team oriented game types, I'll be able to help with that.

I'll throw out some more ideas. You could run several sets of 2v2 games simultaneously. These could be CTF, straight killing, tournament etc.
Here's a fun game idea: This is an adaptation of the Halo gametype Oddball. This game will require a few people to sit out as Timekeepers. Goal: "Hold onto the oddball for a specific amount of time. You cannot fire weapons when holding the oddball, but have a one hit kill melee." We would need one Timekeeper for each team participating. Each Timekeeper has a stopwatch and starts/stops the time as their team holds or loses the oddball. They periodically announce their team's time as the game progresses. First team to hold the oddball for a total of two minutes wins. Two minutes in Belegarth is probably plenty of time considering how much effort will be used in running/fighting. It would be much more chaotic and fun as a multi team game but could be done with two larger teams as well. Various obstacles would be useful as the essence of the game type is hiding, dodging and outwitting your opponents to gain time rather than straight fighting. Respawns allowed but with a reasonable delay. In the game the oddball is a skull but to be legal in Belegarth it would most likely be a very short sword. This is easier to do at an event because there are more people and therefore more people able to be Timekeepers. I think this would be a lot of fun. In relation to this event having a 2v2v2 game of oddball would be fun or even joining up with other units making a 4v4.
I like adapting the Halo game types because they are time tested classics for multiplayer games and a lot of people are familiar with them. The same Timekeeper concept would allow us to adapt King of the Hill game types as well(hold the designated zone for a set amount of time). These time based game types can get really intense and are a lot of fun. I'm going to add this to the game type section.
I mentioned obstacles would be useful. What kinds of things could we use that would be safe? Any large soft object would be good. I'll think of something.

Dave: Right, I forgot about Best Team Garb, that is a must.
Gil: No you have not missed the event, this is a planing and brain storming thread for the potential event. I am thinking it will happen late November or Early December.

Good idea! Will definitely try to make it out for this one(hopefully indoors ). Liking the Halo ideas, especially for oddball. Player with blue/dagger is supposed to be gimped in the match while holding it, but lethal up close. Relies on teammates to protect him (or ambushes from around tight corners )

Ok, this really should have happened in November. I think it is to late to do it this year, so the next event will be Battle for Strathclyde 2011 in May. I will endeavor to make sure this happens next fall. Sorry guys.
