I am getting worried about Belegarth burnout for myself. Running regular practices and trying to figure out ow to get Belegath up on its feet for good in Alberta can take a lot energy and a lot out of someone.
What's more, I have been starting to think that an all year schedule is not necessarily healthy for an organization. Here is a recent post that a prominent guy from the USA forum made a wile back: (with a few small omission edits)
I have been running Belegarth weekly for basically for 3-4 years state with no intentional brakes except maybe a few weeks in August and July. I am not sure how long I can keep this up.
My thought is this:
1 - Run Airdrie processes through to a season closing event in mid January (Tournament of Strathclyde).
2 - Take break for a few months (still allowing for spontaneous get-togethers, planing events etc. might even get some website work done?)
3 - Start things up again just in time for The Battle of Strathclyde in May. (maybe invade the Northern Edmonton aria realms)
4 - From there we start practicing with the intent of going to Chaos Wars.
What do you all think?

Dunharrow has been a realm for a very long time now, and we've been a realm of adults for a very long time. This is our take on the winter (apologies to my realm if I speak for them and they disagree... but we've discussed this so I think I'm good.)
While in most of the sport know there is no off season, either a lot of realms have indoor locations or there are more realms further south now, we like having at least a couple of months off. And as a realm we usually have about 6, nov-mid to late april. What do we do in this "off season?"
1. Get real life done. You use the winter to earn brownie points at work so you can take time off in the summer. Make money. Save that money. Put in time with the wife and family. Most of us have other hobbies, I play much more 40k in the winter, it's also when I work on painting my minis.
2. Heal. We're older, so this is more of a problem for us, but we get banged up all summer, especially octfest, and in this down time our bodies heal those chronic injuries we've gotten all summer.
3. You know all that non-fighting stuff in Belegarth? Hey look, free time! L2SEW. Make garb, make armor. Start planning for a better camp next year.
4. Be social as a realm. Round up the guys once every couple of months and hit a bar or Denny's or something. Stay in touch.
You get the idea. There's lots of stuff to do, there's lots of stuff you've been neglecting, take care of it.
