I built my glaive with 3/4 pcv. just buy a 10' electrical conduit from home depo/rona/totem/lowes and cut it to the length you want.

3/4"?! That's really thin, do you attach two together? I used 1 1/4" for my glaive which is about 5'. My next glaive is going to be 4' long with 1" sched 40 pvc.
I was looking into the polearm rules and I don't see any rule about incidental padding. Do I have to have 1/3 haft padding? There's really no rules about haft padding. 1.4.3.2. The maximum handle length for Class 3 Weapons is 2/3 of its overall length.
On 1 1/4" core the haft padding makes the handle too thick and it's hard to hold. With a 4' glaive could I do less than 1/3 incidental? Or would that be unsafe? I was thinking 10" instead of 16" of padding.

Keep in mind that Class 3 weapons are stabbing only, hence the reason you only have to have 1/3 of it padded. For Class 2/Class 3 weapons, you should use this rule since the weapon could be used for both stabbing and chopping: 1.4.2.3. The maximum handle length for Class 2 Weapons is eighteen (18) inches or one-third (1/3) of the overall length, whichever is greater. This cannot exceed one-half (1/2) of the overall length. You could build it as a Class 2 only but it's really nice to have the stabbing option on a Class 2. Most people who fight with polearms tend to use them as spears with the capability to break shields and go through armor. As far as cores goes, I would not recommend skimping on them. Bandshoppe poles for the win. They're not necessarily cheap but they are darn near indestructible for foam fighting. You can typically reduce the cost by buying several of them so get your friends together to buy them and you can outfit several people with spears and polearms 8).

I just finished my scythe and the details are that its 69" long so since i would need 23" for 1/3 the lengh of a handle the rest is complamentry foam. Im bringing in it friday so i hope its nice and i hope it passes. There is one thing for sure tho is that it was originally 7' so I cut 2' off and it really helped how flimsy it was. So its either larger pipe size or shorter core.

i am constantly finding problems with the spear i have that people are calling light on shots that could not possibly be given harder. example. i snuck up behind someone and double greened them in the back. the shot hit solidly and i was not overextended and yet it is still being called light. how do i fix this problem because it is getting very frustrating when you dish out a nice hit and people consistantly call light.

We will tape our spear heads down to make them tougher at chaos next year I think, but I have had very few problems up here with people not taking spear hits (the spear heads across the boarder hit likes bricks and were kinda scary if you ask me).
Something that I just vaguely remember on the international forums is someone suggesting putting a round peace of blue foam on the spear head to help give it more punch and prevent it from slipping off as much. Might have to try that.
