I recently got two graphite golf clubs for cores, and I'm wondering if they are better purposed towards swords or spears. I'm wary of making spears because the clubs are so thin, and may be hard to work with, but I still would like to try.

Spears? How long are these club shafts?
Spears don't snap much because how the pressure is applied, so I don't think it would be a problem that way. You might have less "fight" and manoeuvring power in it if you get locked up with another spear, but should theoretically me faster because of the reduced weight.
OH! Idea, because spears are not a slashing weapon a bit of core vibration shouldn't play as much havoc with the glue and foam, so you could probably get away with doubling or tripling them up if you wanted to get it stronger.
Spears are pretty simple builds and generally last a long time, you might have to build up the gip arias.
Alternatively, if the cores are closer to 4' you could make it a jav, which makes a lot more sense combat wise, light, can be thrown in a pinch, but not so floppy as a PVC jav so works better as a spear... The downs sides being that they are harder to build and the heads wear out quickly.

I considered javelins, but the clubs are only about 3' long. I managed to get two more last night, so I may try to build some swords as well.

Geoff made the sword that snapped last practice and the axe he was using out of graphite golf clubs.
They work great, but you have to be careful of where you put the striking surface vs where the end of the golf handle ends. Geoff's fancy sword has it's stress point at just the wrong location so both it and it's predecessor snapped.

What method did you end up using to double the core?Just duct tape?
Does anyone know where to buy strapping tape? Is has fibreglass stands running length wise in it which make it extremely strong for that kind of thing.

More than likely, Walmart should carry it too. Another option might also be Lowe's or Home Depot.
