I am in the process of making a mace/club and a bag head flail. These are a bit of an experiment, I am trying to make them as economically as posable. I am using pool noodle a lot on these. Wile pool noodle is alone not high enough quality to hold up in combat, however, I think under certain conditions it is a suitable construction material.

I realize that this thread is fairly old... Just wondering how it worked out. From my experience, Pool Noodles and PVC Insulation break down too easily and should not be used on any striking surface (Or inner layers of a striking surface). It tends to crack and break apart, eventually coming off of your core. You could probably get away with making pommels out of pool noodle, as well as haft padding. Anyway, let me know how this turned out - Curious

I think if it was to much bigger that might have been that case, but on a shorter tube bladed weapon. I completed it shortly after this post, and it has been in our loaner pile ever since. Its still going strong, but no ones favorite weapon, so not over used at the same time.
Lets see if I can dig up a pict..
Edit: oh, and welcome to the forum Akroth! Where are you from and how did you find us?
