Ok, people are saying these might be to good for loaner garb (they would rather just wear these then get their own). They might be right. One suggestion was let a noob wear one for a X number of weeks then he ether buys it or get his own garb. Maybe $5 or $10? Use the money to fund events, or make loaner weapons for us and other realms (to help them get on their feet). Thoughts?

I think people will be a lot more willing to get garb if they can just buy it at a practice rather than having to make it themselves.
I say let people buy the tabards and tunics for $10 each, it cost me $4/square meter to buy the cloth, I'd like that back. Anything beyond that goes to hall rentals or materials for more loaner gear, (both weapons and garb)
As for how long they can borrow them for before they have to buy them I'm not sure. I'd like to say only borrow once, then you need your own, (or to buy ours) for the next practice, no un-garbed participants allowed. That would probably be way too harsh though... For now let them borrow indefinitely but make everyone aware they can buy them. we will see how many people take us up on that.

Do you remember how many meters of cloth did you buy of each color? And how much was spent total?

I agree, no ungarbed participants.

A common way way to enforce garb is to say after "X" practices you must where garb or you can only fight single blue, or you can not call "light" or "garb". Apparently that works pretty well.
Enforcing it is the tricky part, it is hard to say "no you can not play today" to someone who shows up. I have also heard stories of to harsh of enforcement causing smaller practices because people who are making a last minuet decision will say "I could go but don't have time to get may garb from home, and I don't want to play with the no garb rules..."
Anyway, lets just start with what Mog suggested and see how things go.

those are great ways to enforce garb. and one of the most stupid excuses for not wearing it is "I don't want to look stupid." well they need to wake up and smell the coffee. why would they battle if they don't want to wear garb. it enhances the experience.
