1.) Yes 2.) I agree with Mog, it should be an indoor event. Maybe us regulars should try to split the difference for the cost of the gymnasium?
@ Mog. LOL. I now what you mean. I get pretty tired after our two hour practices as well.
EDIT: Just an after thought here. When we do get around to doing a six hour practice there will definitely be the need for breather periods. Also, some of the games that will be played could be arranged in such a way that afforded some people a breather. For instance, when holding a duals tournament not all of the people are fighting at once. This could be held in the middle of an event so as to afford some people a rest without actually stopping the fighting.

If you guys would be willing to do that, I would be very grateful. @ Mog. LOL. I now what you mean. I get pretty tired after our two hour practices as well. I can go all day most days ;D But, maybe that is just me EDIT: Just an after thought here. When we do get around to doing a six hour practice there will definitely be the need for breather periods. You get more fighting in that way! Call a water brake and jump right in to a turny. I like it.

We can only "reasonably" afford about 4 hour gym rental. By "reasonably", I mean, before the cost of entrance to the event becomes to high.

i get what your saying there cib. but i just thought of one little thing, we might need an extra hour, (30min before and 30min after) for clean up and set up if there is any, and for people to pay.

yup. 4 hour gym rental for 3-3 1/2 hours of fighting.
Here is what the event might look like:
If it is nice, we can do weapons check and registration in the parking lot. If not it might cut in on the registration time.
1:00-1:15 Check in and weapons check.
1:15-1:30 Noob into to rules. And pick up sparing and battles for "vets". Maybe a mini "masters" turny.
1:30-2:40 small team battles
2:40-3:10 water break, pick up battle, and turny.
3:10-4:45 large team battles and scenario battles.
4:45-5:00 clean up, and head over to DQ (or starbucks, or sub way, all of which are across the street)
5:00 - X:XX Hang out at DQ

These are just my initial thoughts, not necessarily good, but will give us a starting point to work from.
Date: May 2nd
Times: Official time is 1-5pm, if weather is permissible, we will open registration and weapons check at quarter to in order allow as much fighting time as posable. Also, we plan to hang out at DQ across the street afterwards.
Location: Bow Valley Christian Church Gymnasium
Cost: Entrance fee is $15 $10 a person if you bring a friend*
Age Minimum: 16 year of age.
Waiver: In order to participate in the combat you must sign an event waiver. Players under 18 years of age must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian.
Minimum Garb Requirements: In order to create the best environment posable, we are asking all players to do their best to meet minimum garb requirements. We understand that no everyone has garb. If you have absolutely nothing, we will have some garb to loan on a first come first serve basis.
Minimum Garb Suggestions:
Pants: Stay away from blue jeans and camouflage pants. Try to find neutral colored or dark pants, Scrubs and sweat pants work well.
Shirt: Avoid Logos and images. A plain t-shirt or long sleeve will work well.
Extras: A belt over your tabard or big shirt looks good. A tabard is easy to make. An old sheet with a hole in the center at its simplest.

Ok, I just booked the gym for May 2nd 1-5. If anyone is willing to help me front the money, I am paying for it on sunday. I will make sure anyone who contributes will get payed back before myself, up to the $15* entrance fee. Anything over will go to loaner gear and getting a better website. Sound good?
*or $10 if you bring a "new" friend
